amigurumi owl

Owl you need is love!

September 29, 2017

Sometimes, I feel like yarns are more precious to us fellow crocheters than any other expensive items while we are in the middle of a project.. The measures i go to protect them from my little girl can't be described in words. Whenever i take my crochet hooks and yarn out, my little one will abandon all her activities and start messing with the yarns.  She won't settle for any other yarn, she will need the exact yarn with which i'm working. So i mostly confine to crochet during her nap time and after she goes to bed at night.

I'm happy that i managed to finish an order for amigurumi owl that i got recently amidst all my little girl's shenanigans.

I made these cuties from a pettern by Chonthika crochetlover . She makes the cutest owls and other beautiful amigurumis and keycovers. You can find the pattern here

These sleepy eyed owls are so calming to watch and happy with the way they turned out. Which one do you like? Open eyes or the closed one.

You can also buy them from my etsy shop if you like to have one. Well i'm off to do some more crocheting while my girl is still asleep... Have a great day!

A new look and a giveaway!

July 31, 2017

Hello people! Hope you all are doing good. I guess most of you have noticed the new look of my blog. I was content with the old one but recently i heard someone mention in fb that my site has some malwares and i have to go check them myself if it's true. I scanned using Sucuri sitecheck and found out it's true indeed. Having no idea of how to remove them i googled for some infos related to it and learned that having a third party blogger templates is one of the prime reason for malwares. There are indeed some new and beautiful templates available in blogger but missing some functionality that i liked. So i end up using another third party blogger template but removed the malware manually using this instructions. Now i'm happy that my blog is free from malware. So if you have installed a third party templates in your blog, i suggest scanning your site using any sitecheck for malwares.
My blog is still a work in progress trying to add and remove widgets and getting used to the new look.

Also i have another news to share.. Recently i hit 1K followers in instagram and so i'm hosting a giveaway in instagram. Visit my Instagram profile  if you'd like to enter or know more details about it.
That's it for now. Have a fantastic week ahead! Cheers:)

Crochet roses

July 19, 2017

The Earth laughs in flowers - Ralph Waldo Emerson
Just looking at flowers brings joy and put a smile on our faces. So what to do when you can't grow them?? you make them of course! I made some crocheted roses recently and really loved it. They are simple and not time consuming. Here are some of the pictures...

You can find the free pattern on how to crochet these roses in here

I turned some into bookmarks with tassels at the end (inspired by pinterest)

This rose will make a lovely embellishment for crochet headbands (Unfortunately my little one hates to wear any headbands) Guess i can make hairclips out of them and use it myself :)

Handmade flowers are just as special as real ones, aren't they?

Hope you all are having a wonderful week. Happy crafting!

Bullet journal: June

June 29, 2017

Hello lovely people! The monsoon season has started here and we've been getting some decent rainfall lately. The weather is nice and cold which makes me wanna stay in bed and read a good book whereas my little girl hates being confined inside and wants to go out and play. Finally we both would settle to sit nearby the windows and relish watching the rain drops forming ripples in the puddle and the soft rain drenched surroundings. How is it out there? I guess it's the start of summer in most part of the world. Are you guys enjoying the summer so far?

Here's a peek into this month in my bullet journal. I try to squeeze in journal and crafting in the little time i have after my daughter sleeps. So i use lots of pictures and washi tapes to decorate. I did managed to draw a little here and there.

How do you guys prefer to decorate your journals? I love little adding sketches and quotes. I mostly use color pencils but would like to try on watercolors. Which medium do you prefer to use on journals/ sketchbooks?

Hope you guys enjoyed a little peek into my journal. Wishing you all a happy summer!

Bullet journaling march

March 28, 2017

Hello lovelies! March is almost over and i haven't posted for a while. I've been preparing for Teacher's eligibility test and so there wasn't much time for crafting. Here is a little peek inside my march month bullet journal page.

I love drawing illustrations and doodling with bits of quotes here and there in my page.

Instead of habit tracker, i've added a weekly task list and colored them once the task is finished.

Hope you like this little page. Will come up with a new amigurumi project in my next post. Have a productive week :)

Bullet journaling

February 26, 2017

I really love the idea of keeping a journal. Be it a simple journal full of texts or artsy one with lots of pictures and drawings, a journal is a way to record our memories, keeping track of events, and serves as an outlet to our inner thoughts.
Last year i tried fauxbonichi method of journaling. I also used it as a place to write down some lists, important things to remember but i had difficulty finding those important pages when i needed to have a look at it in a hurry.
Although last year journal wasn't a complete success, i'm happy that i tried at the least. This year i wanted to resume my journaling with a few changes and that's when i came across bullet journal. Basically it's a blank journal and you can customize it according to your likes. That's the beauty of it. Bullet journal is a system introduced by Ryder Carroll and you can see the details about it here

You can use any type of notebook but most prefer using Leuchttrum 1917 dot gridded notebook. Since i'm trying this out newly i opted for a much cheaper one with a good quality paper.
One of the important thing to write down in bullet journal is an index. Number all the pages before you start so that you can enter the content and the page where it is in the index. I find this so handy in case i want to search for any specific page. Most write down their intentions/word of the year in their journal. I chose 'Take chances' as my motto of this year as i really wanted to have the courage to say yes when provided with opportunity rather than saying no without even giving it a try and regret it later.

Another important page is calendar, It's easy to write down important events, appointments when you have a calendar in the front pages of your journal

Here are some of my weekly spreads

At the start of each month, i write down events, goals and tasks to do in that specific month. It's easy to have a glance at all of it in one place.

I do try to be creative sometimes and dab in a bit of quotes, pictures and doodles.

So this is how my bullet journal looks so far. You can create some specific pages that you want to keep track of like books to read, movies to watch, places to go and the list is endless. More of those in my next bullet journal post. You can get lots of inspiration for bullet journaling from instagram and pinterest. There is only one important thing to remember, don't get intimidated by those beautiful journal pages and try to compete with it. Each of us have our own styles and your journal should bring out your uniqueness. Have a fantastic day friends!
